A Distant Story
In the frozen wasteland of Thule, a cursed world at the edge of the Midlands, lives Seroz Kenada—an exiled noble heir hardened by isolation, bloodshed, and prophecy. Cousin to Hisa Kenada, current head of their powerful house, Seroz abandoned his lineage to forge strength alone, driven by visions of the Cosmic Crow, a bone-armored omen said to turn dreams into fate.
Surviving in the ice with only his weaponized companion droid C3, Seroz trains relentlessly, believing power alone will earn him the right to reclaim his family name. When a bounty is placed on his head, he barely reacts—until his bunker is annihilated by an assassin.
The attacker is Kiyoi, a Massari bounty hunter—fast, vicious, and utterly confident. He overwhelms Seroz in moments, severing his arm and crushing him with superior speed. But Kiyoi makes one fatal mistake: he underestimates what Seroz truly is.
Unleashing his ether in a violent awakening, Seroz reveals the terrifying gulf between shard users and ordinary sorcerers. Refusing to heal his wounds out of spite, he dismantles Kiyoi with effortless brutality. The fight ends in a single, decisive strike—Kiyoi is beheaded, his corpse left frozen in the snow.
Disappointed rather than satisfied, Seroz takes the hunter’s ship and leaves Thule, chasing greater power across the distant worlds—knowing he is still nothing compared to Hisa, or the galaxy’s true monsters.
As silence returns to the frozen plains, the impossible occurs.
Kiyoi’s headless body rises.
On Thule, death is not an ending—only another hunt.
