After years spent beyond the kingdom’s borders, Princess Aurelia finally returns home. The capital erupts in celebration as nobles and commoners alike gather for a grand ceremony welcoming their beloved princess back to the realm.

Yet Aurelia’s return carries even greater significance.

Standing before thousands, she reveals a discovery once thought impossible—she has found her Soul Flare, the mythical bond said to unite destined hearts. The crowd explodes with joy. To many, this is more than a romantic revelation. Ancient prophecies speak of Soul Flares as symbols of unity, hope, and peace.

Then comes the second announcement.

To end the devastating war between their kingdom and its greatest rival, Aurelia will marry the prince of the opposing nation.

The crowd celebrates. Nobles cheer. Citizens weep with relief at the promise of peace.

Only one person remains silent.

Eryx feels it the moment Aurelia speaks of her Soul Flare. A strange warmth ignites within his chest, resonating with the mark hidden over his own heart. Every instinct tells him the impossible truth.

The princess is his Soul Flare.

But as Aurelia proudly declares she has already found her destined partner, Eryx’s certainty shatters. Confusion gives way to doubt. Was he mistaken? Is the connection flawed? Or has Aurelia truly found someone else?

For the rest of the day, Eryx watches the celebrations from the shadows while wrestling with emotions he cannot understand. Jealousy. Hope. Anger. Fear.

As night falls, he can no longer endure the uncertainty.

Determined to uncover the truth, Eryx seeks out Aurelia in private. There, away from cheering crowds and political expectations, he confronts the princess directly.

If she has truly found her Soul Flare, then why does his heart still burn whenever she is near?

And why does Aurelia’s own Soul Flare seem to react to him?

Their conversation may reveal a truth capable of ending a war—or starting an even greater one.
